Additional clay is available for purchase from our website and we will provide you with a link for purchasing additional clay in our "Welcome" email sent prior to the start of your class.
Join Kendra as she teaches you the ins and outs of designing and building your own teapot. Students are free to make as many teapots as they wish, using both scheduled class time as well as practice time (see below for more information)
Week 1: Discuss class outcomes and teapot parts. Kendra will demonstrate throwing teapot bodies and lids, and then it's your turn to throw!
Week 2: All about spouts! Kendra will demonstrate three different spout options: throwing spout, solid spout, and slab spout. She will also demonstrate trimming your teapot body and lid, and how to attach your spout and a handle.
Week 3: Review and troubleshoot. Students will spend time throwing, working on teapot parts, reviewing what they have learned. Kendra will help with troubleshooting any areas where a student may be struggling.
Week 4: Glaze Day! This is the day where you will add beautiful colour to your teapot(s).
Week 5: Review and Critique Teapots. This is especially important for teapots. As a class, we look at our teapots and give positive feedback and discuss how to move forward. How teapots pour, handle placement, lid placement can all make or break a teapot and it is important to see how these elements work and interact with each other.
PRACTICE TIME:
Students will have 24/7 access to the studio. Students will be able to use the classroom wheels when a class is not in session. Please refer to the Classroom Calendar for further information. Students will need to provide their own tools if practicing outside of class time.
MAKE UP CLASSES:
We are unable to offer make-up classes. You may use the practice time to catch up on what you may have missed during your class.
