Level 1 - Wheel Throwing Foundations (6 weeks, 2.5 hours per week)

This class is a prerequisite to Level 2 or Level 3 if you have no prior clay experience.

If clay is brand new to you, or you haven't touched clay for quite some time, this is the class for you.  Wheel Throwing Foundations will teach you, or refresh, the basics of working with clay.  Intended for wheel-throwing, this class can also set you up for success with hand-building.  You will learn proper clay handling including wedging, how to center your clay on the wheel, clay safety, studio hygiene, trimming and glazing. 

Minimum age requirement is 16.  Some exceptions may apply.  Contact us for details.  Students may only take the Level 1 class once before moving on to Level 2.

Class fees include clay, glazes, bisque & glaze firings, and access to our tools.

CANCELLATIONS and REFUNDS

Classes cancelled within 72 hours of the start date are subject to a refund or credit only if a replacement is found for your signup. Classes cancelled anytime prior to 72 hours from the start date are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our processing fees. Alternatively, you may request your refund be given in a Gift Card in which case there are no fees and the entire amount will be refunded to a gift card for you to use towards a future class.  Classes are subject to cancellation by Fired Clay in the case of low enrollment. If classes are cancelled by Fired Clay, you will receive a full refund, including processing fees.

Due to high enrollment, we are not able to offer make-up classes if a student is unable to attend all classes in this course. Classes in Level 1 are structured to touch on all stages of the pottery process, and participants will be most successful if all classes are attended.
