Beginner - Introduction to Clay

If clay is brand new to you, or if you are hearing the call of clay after a significant break, this is the class for you.  Introduction to Clay will teach you, or refresh, the basics of working with clay.  Intended for wheel-throwing, this class can also set you up for success with hand-building.  You will learn proper clay handling including wedging, how to center your clay on the wheel, clay safety, trimming and glazing. 

Class fees include clay, glazes, bisque & glaze firings, and access to our tools.

Introduction to Clay is a six week class.

Participants must wear flat shoes, ideally with a rubber or non-slip sole.  Long hair should be tied back.    Please bring a lint-free towel.  Any beverages need to be in a closed-lid container.  Food is not permitted at the wheels.  You are working with clay and will get dirty so please take that into consideration when choosing your clothing. 

This class is a prerequisite to Shapes, Serve, or Set if you have never experienced clay previously.
